May-cember Blog

I visited the Michigan State Capitol with Eliza's class. I wish we had more time to look around but it was a fun short trip.

Our Middle School robotics team hosted the Atomic Glow again this year. It's an off season event that our group puts on, this year with 23 other teams under black lights.

Robots glow in the lights. The balls are the glowing orbs and they try and get them in the corners of the field.

Evan having fun with glow sticks.

Everyone helps out. Mike got the teams ready to go onto the field and Eliza reset the field after each match, I was selling consessions.

Eliza received a gift package from her Whale Watching people. She got all kinds of cool stuff and has been wearing the hoodie she got ever since.

I'm so glad they included a stuffed whale.

Alex, Evan and I traveled to see Oma with some of the Wade family for Mother's day / my mom's birthday. We went to A&W for dinner and the boys got root beer floats. They were super excited.

Alex got a footlong hotdog which he loved.

Rosie at the top of the stairs making sure no riff raff go up.

Dentist appointments for all the kids. No cavities for the win!

Eliza had her field day at school. So much fun!

There were 11 stations for the kids to visit. It was actually kind of cold that day.

Final robotics competition for the year.

Eliza was busy that day working on loom bracelets while we all watching and hanging out.

I finally had enough hair to donate it to Wigs 4 Kids.

Evan headed to 5th grade camp. While he didn't have the best of times (no swimming, didn't get to mountain bike really, bugs were crawling in the windows to his cabin, and his bus was horrible for the three hour trip) he had an ok time and the food was ok.

Circus day at Sheiko. Evan stabilized a barrel so I kid could stand on top. They were 40 parents short, so they asked 40 5th graders to help and lead groups of students around. It was mayhem, but I was proud of the 5th graders, and Evan, for stepping up for the day.

I helped out by teaching kids how to traverse a balance beam and put on a show with them.

Finally got my rain barrels set up so that the blue and the red barrel can feed each other. I was having issue that the red wasn't filling at all and the blue was the only one with water. This way the blue will push water into the red so they can both be full.

Evan found a lot of stones (mostly Petosky) while at camp, which of course we have to tumble & shine.

Alex working with his circuit set. This time he made a keyboard that plays an octave of notes.

Alex started up the van for me after church. First time starting a car, it was a strange thing to see.

We went to the Memorial Day parade in Keego Harbor on a beautiful day. The boys marched in the parade with the robotics teams.

Alex with his best friend Keaton after the parade.

The asparagus in my new garden bed has sprouted.

We headed to the theater to see the Mandalorian movie.

We all enjoyed it, and the popcorn.

Evan and Eliza still enjoying Duplo.

My annual teacher/bus driver thank you cookies turned out ok.

The garden is coming along nicely. My cucumbers and green beans have already come up after I planted them in this picture.

We headed to the library for more fun actives. The kids tasted 6 different flavored honey sticks and made seed bombs and twinkie bees.

They were able to encapsulate Eliza in this big magnet tile build.

Evan's second band concert was a success

He's still enjoying the trumpet.

Mike and I headed to Evan's field day where he enjoyed some time in the sun and in the end burned. :(

He really wanted to win in tug of war.

Alex's trombone teacher was in town visiting, he moved to Texas, and he was free to give Alex a lesson. Just as he was leaving, Alex wanted to run out and show him his 'sad trombone' toy he got for his birthday and everyone wanted to join.

The family headed to a birthday party at a American Ninja place near us. There were some exciting games of chess while they were there.

They also showed off their ninja skills.

After the birthday party we had friends over for our monthly dinner and game night. They stated long enough to look through Evan's telescope to see the moon, Jupiter and Venus.

Evan using his star chart to figure out what should be in the night sky to look at.

Rosie has started unrolling the toilet paper in the downstairs bathroom. Turning the roll around didn't seem to work, so now we just keep the door closed.

The lettuce on the left I got from Evan's school and it is 13" tall and wide, and the leaves are 10" long. The lettuce on the right is what I started. Note the difference.

Evan on his promotion day with his teacher. He really had a good year with Mr. Malisow.

Top: first day of school - bottom: last day.

I was able to attend Evan's last elementary school party. Now we only have Eliza in elementary.

Eliza's friend gave her this stuffed husky at the raffle at school because Eliza didn't get the raffle she was hoping to win.

Alex had to try to make Elephant toothpaste.

He is looking forward to having more of a reaction with more ingredients.

Our neighbors were finally cutting down the dreaded walnut tree that drops walnuts on my head while I garden.

Turns out they just chopped the top off it and left the rest.

Last day of school celebration with DQ

Alex didn't' get any because he was having fun at a friends. house.
